BizBot
BizBot is a text mining application that takes your query
and searches Seattle's businesses to capture the pages that meet your criteria of interest. Your query is simply
a logical expression of keywords that are sought in the individual pages, and each page within that site that page
links to in turn. This is a form of search engine that is already common on the Internet, but BizBot is targeted and contains a far more sophisticated inference engine.
This application does not connect to those existing search engines, but instead goes to the pages of interest applying
your query directly. Discussion of the query language can be found in related pages that offer this application.
BizBot contains controls to limit its searches and is set
with defaults to limit searches to within a domain. That is, searches will not follow links outside of the business
so that indiscriminate wandering of Web Space is not performed. The mission pane also limits searches by locale
and within a limited span of the alphabet. It is presumed you are searching without regard for having a known
domain name in mind (although through the alphabetic divisions this is possible, the division simply is a limitation
more than an aid in selecting specific sites). As there are more than 1000 business within the combined links,
trying to search all of them would tax the hardiest of home systems slowing down the computer from accomplishing
other tasks.
